Or it goes the other way, and something that should really be known by everyone is some kind of occult legend that nobody really remembers, even if it ate their uncle last week. Or specific individuals who should be useful are useless.

@Fangirlsarah1996 Haha it's the OTHER type of NPC, the ones who just wander slowly about a small area and spout one or two phrases over and over.

(That one in particular was from the old webcomic 8 Bit Theater but lots of RPGs are infested with those kinds of people)
