I had an interesting conversation

....with my mum the other day. We were just shooting the shit,y'know, just catching up. We were chatting about what was on television and I made mention that on one of the channels was the final part of a series on the Yorkshire Ripper....

Now, for those that have never heard of him, he was a serial killer in Yorkshire in the United Kingdom who killed women, violently with a hammer amongst other weapons, from around 1975 to 1981, when he was finally caught. He went on to kill 13 women, and attacked at least 7 more....initially prostitutes but then onto other women...

Well, mum told me '..y'know, your grandmother worked during that time.'

I'm never realised it. It blew my mind. Just thinking how a person can work with the worry of that hanging over them. Just....phew!

I wished I knew. I wished I had talked to her about it.

How terrifying that must have been to be a working girl while that was going on! What stories she could have told.........

@fancyboyYes, indeed. I remember the Ipswich Hooker murders.....that was quite scary, however I work nowhere near there, but still. Just thinking about all the girls...

@MartikaDuponte1 I've never heard about those - but anyone preying on working girls must make work conditions a frightening prospect..........as a father, I worry about my daughter constantly!

@fancyboy Luckily, nutters like that are few and far between, but yes....still worrying...

@fancyboy I can look after myself, thankfully....

@MartikaDuponte1 I'm sure - but as parents, we always hope the best for our kids no matter how old they are!
