I Would Love To Write

I am going to write about a tale from history. I have been thinking about it from a while now. I love history, fables, tales. specially if you are in country whose past was glorious, present is crappy and future is scary, you reminisce all those text book stuff and feel good about what a nice place it is!

History is very biased, winners have their own versions, and highly opinionated. I want to start putting mine too, and where else to start but EP. Nobody is gonna understand what I am blabbering and laugh.

I was reading about this battle that took place in 1192. Two parties, one, a foreigner who came to plunder (M G), the other, king of the might country (P C).

MG attacked in 1191, lost the battle to PC and went back. MG started planning and plotting, how to win and expand. PG was into celebrations and romance. He fell in love with the princess from other kingdom, eloped with her, angering her father, the King (JC). And JC, who was once an ally, went behind his back and joined forces with MG.

Come 1192, MG, the strategist, with the help of JC, and some neat (or dirty?) tricks, came back with full force and screwed the mighty PC. Those are facts.

Now lets get to the opinions: (in quotes is general opinion)
1.“PC, a-great-hero” even if he is defeated, Why? Cz he was brave and fought the evil foreigner who came to raid and plunder the great kingdom blah blah blah. We have TV soap that sings his praise. History full of his “great battle form” and book written on his epic “love-tale”. MY OPINION: Why don’t people see, that he was celebrating and romancing instead of planning. Antagonizing an ally instead of reinforcing the ties with a marriage. Why did he have to elope? Dude, you are a bloody king, not some stable boy! Could have saved us a lot of trouble if we had more pro-active and less arrogant kings. He was a brilliant General, but crappy strategist.

2.“JC, the biggest traitor” Why? Went and joined hands with foreign invader. MY OPINION: I do agree the guy was an idiot, Ego higher than love for country? Men and their ego’s, I tell you. OK, your daughter eloped, bad, let her go to hell. But man, don’t you have sense? You are supposed to be one the good kings. She did chose well after all. And just what was the guy thinking? MG wouldn’t want his kingdom too? Pompous old fool! Served him right. (MG defeats JC and annexes his kingdom in 1194). And screwed us over even more.

3.“MG, the big nobody/saviour”, then again this opinion is highly varied. The mighty country is divided in the middle and is now two different nations. One Nation, the side with PC and JC, paints him to be an invader, just blames JC and praises PC. Poor MG isn’t given his due for the perseverance and skill. I would say, much needed due. He is just some guy who laid foundation for a rule that continued for 5 centuries. And bought in a religion that changed the face of the country. Nation two, recognizes this, and paints him hero, has nuke warhead with his name and people who proudly proclaim to be descendants from his army. After all religion is everything. MY OPINION: He was bloody awesome, needs to be lauded for his patience, determination and strategy or what PC would call cheap tricks (all is fair in love and war). but Religion? meh.

Ah well, I have no clue how many people would see the irony of the whole thing, but I have learnt a lot. Men, kings from 12th century, or the guy next door in 21st century, are only ruled by two things, ego and libido. And they can screw up nations cz of that. And then they consider women to be of lesser intellect and value.

P.S. Its all in good humour, guys need not take it personally.
