I Love Mountains

I haul ore concentrate from a copper mine roughly 5 hours south of the North 60th parallel not far from Alaska and the Yukon.

Every once in a while I get a chance to stop on the haul road and take a photo, usually while waiting to clear another truck on its way up.

The grades are steep but the scenery is just beautiful.

That is really really beautiful. Plus you must have guts of steel to handle those roads. You could disappear in those mountains...

@SW-User you very well could. There are some big grizzly bears in and around that area.

@Sapio You ever seen one crossing the road? We don’t get Bears here and I’ve only ever seen them in zoos. Threw one jellytots once.

And re cold. I can’t imagine. Seriously.

@SW-User yep I have seen a few big sows in my time. They're beautiful animals but not to be approached or fed. It's against the law to feed wildlife here.

@Sapio Yes it’s against the law here too. But that bear in the zoo was eyeing my jelly tots and I couldn’t resist. Yeah I’d be kind of afraid camping knowing there are bears around. The seem quite territorial. That being said I’d love to see them in their natural habitat.

@Sapio They remind me of dogs on steroids.
