The author Jeff Strand has this wonderful ability to mix comedy with horror. I highly recommend any of his books. He's also got a romantic comedy boom called Kumquat, very good.

Nineteen Eighty-four, because everyone should if they haven't read it. Gripping, immersive and increasingly relevant in my opinion.

@Notladylike it is by Haruki Murakami. It is a surreal story about a girl and a guy chasing eachother through time and space, eventhough they have no idea of the existence of the other one. It is a kind of a love story, but the writing is just incredible. Murakami plays with your mind in the most weird possible ways.
