I Have Been Electrocuted

Partially, But I Was Lucky...   When I was a co-op during college, I worked for a company that made excite equipment and data collection equipment & software.  One day my boss had me go service a very old DEC system.  It was in a rack mount in an auxiliary room.  It couldn't be turned off, because of some obscure reasoning.  I was a naive co-op so I didn't question it.  So, I lowered the front panel and reached in to change a setting.  Too my astonishment, the tracing on the front panel started to self-combust.  This started to scorch my left arm, I naturally jerked, but I was position over a open power supply and my arm touched a capacitor.  Next thing I know, I am flying backwards and land in a heap on the floor.  Needless to say the DEC went up in smoke.  I've got a mass of blown blood vessels in that arm as a reminder at the wrist and the nerves haven't always worked correctly there since it happened.  It really didn't hurt at the time because it was so sudden, but it did scare the crap out of me.  I've been much more careful around power supplies & open monitors ever since.
