I Am a Caregiver

I cared for my Grandmother, 24/7. A companion, a friend, a butt wiper, a food prepper, a pep talker when she didn't want to walk, and a singer for when she was afraid. She has damentia.
Now I care for my boyfriend's Mother. I pay for things when they can't, I feed her, clean her and the house up. Help her out of the house and drive her to daycare. She has no idea who I am. And doesn't like a girl around her son. Even though she no longer knows that is her son. She also has Damentia.
Damentia sucks. But where some family members lack, the others need to help out. I may not have all the money, or can help with paperwork. But in other ways I can. Somedays I want to give up. Move back home and just worry about myself. But I can't. Being a caregiver hurts sometimes and other times it's sooo rewarding.

Congrats 💐☺ you should be proud of what are you doing.. I hear often people saying that not everyone is able to work as caregiver.first of all,it needs of lot of patience..and being caregiver,it helps you a lot to discover yourself..it offers to you other life perspectives ☺ and it makes you stronger

You might want to turn this into a career (once your bf's mother passes anyway) - this is what my wife does, working for an agency, doing home visits/care for the elderly, usually with dementia or alzheimers. She finds it immensely satisfying.

We've been through that in my family and still are with my mother in law. It takes a lot of courage to do so much on your own and at your age... hats off to you.
