That's pretty easy to answer and kaira gave you a very humanly friendly answer. As a technical person, I've used Stackoverflow for years and I still use it. Here's the definition on their website:

[quote]
Stack Exchange is a network of 150+ Q&A communities including Stack Overflow, the preeminent site for programmers to find, ask, and answer questions about software development. Founded in 2008 by Joel Spolsky and Jeff Atwood, the company was built on the premise that serving the developer community at large would lead to a better, smarter Internet. Since then, the Stack Exchange network has grown into a top-50 online destination, with Stack Overflow alone serving more than 40 million professional and novice programmers every month. The broader Stack Exchange Network has expanded to cover topics as diverse as Mathematics, Home Improvement, Statistics, and English Language and Usage.

The premise is that you go there to get to the nitty gritty truths and insanely in-depth (technical) discussions about various topics, among which English, Math and Computers. The prerequisite, though, is that you may only post if you've done prior extensive research; this is a way to prevent redundant, ignorant spamming. It's pretty much the opposite if SW.

Example question 1:

Let's say I have had a problem with my computer and I've searched the internet high and low, I've read books on it and I still can't figure it out. Well, then I turn to Stackexchange, computer section and I post my question there with highly technical detail. After a while I should get answers.

Example question 2:

Let's say you are trying to figure out what the real origin and lexical history is behind a particular English word, for example: you're trying to figure out where the name 'Peggy' comes from. You then look it up online everywhere, then you consult the etymology dictionary for roots of that word, making it date back to the old age, where 'Peggy' came from 'Margaret' which means 'Pearl' in another alphabet.
Now, suppose you're not satisfied with that explanation. Then, you go to stackexchange and you ask for the finer details.

It's really a website for highly technical people who care about the deepest of details of things.
