Are you a computer programmer ? What programming languages do you know ?

SW-User
er, at one point or another in my life I've used BASIC, 6502 machine code, FORTH, Pascal, C, 68000 and 8086 assembly, a dataflow language called "ProGraph," LISP, Scheme, FORTRAN (77 and 90), PostScript, C++, Java, Perl, Python, BASH shell scripts, MATLAB, and probably some others I've forgotten.

@SW-User A friend of mine had to write many lines of inline assembly code in a C program to make it run faster, and it worked!
All I remember is "mov".
I tried to learn 68k assembler, but I failed.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@helenS the first time I messed around with shader compiling I had to use assembly.
SW-User
@helenS I used it inline, too, for the same reason. 68k assembler was like a luxury car after the 6502 and 8086.

Z80, 6502, 680x0, 80x86, a lot of the interpreted languages, C, C#, Pascal, Modula 2, various scripting languages both in web, Office, and other apps, and then a handful of things that just don't fit in any broad category like golfing languages. Oh, and various implementations of SQL. And Linq. Probably some other I don't use much any more.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
HTML, java, JavaScript, python, C, C++, wmi, powershell, bash, SQL, golang, and there’s probably more but it’s been a while.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@DDonde Booo. It all sucks regardless. I’ve been using golang and there’s no ORM due to the strictness of the language. So many raw SQL calls 😣
DDonde · 31-35, M
@Rokasu lol.
At this one place I was at they were putting together strings of SQL queries like "update X " + value + ", blah blah blah" in vb6 still.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@DDonde That sounds... awful. The sql libraries in golang let me do some generic prepares. I was afraid typing would be a pain in the ass but they created some back end code for all that.

BASIC, 6502, Z80, 80x86, PL/M, C, with dashes of 6809, TMS320C31 DSP, C++ and SQL. Possibly some more that I've forgotten... I certainly tried to forget the one time I had to look at some 8031 code!

Z80 and C are my favourites, and where I feel most at home. I suspect if I'd ended up having to do more 6809 I'd've loved that too; a seriously cool chip for its day.

@TheThinker this post is bringing out the hardcore nerds
TheThinker · 56-60, M
@SW-User It certainly is. :-)

I'm not a programmer, but I did learn a little bit of Visual Basic and Python back in college.
firefall · 61-69, M
Fortran 66, Algol, Basic, VB, Powerhouse, Pascal, html, powershell, SQL
rjc36 · 56-60, M
Yes. LabVIEW and some assembly for Micro pic controllers.
helenS · 36-40, F
@rjc36 Oh LaView! I did a lot of LabView programming during my Masters studies.
ABCDEF7 · M
VB, JavaScript, PHP
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
No I'm not a computer programmer but I'm familiar with C, C++, Python and JAVA.
helenS · 36-40, F
I do a lot of CGI programming.
Perl, JavaScript, C.
ItsGonnaBeOk · 26-30, M
not a programmer but i know some C++
JenKarl · 41-45, C
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I am actually. My work is in JavaScript and PHP. I also do HTML and CSS, although those aren't programming languages. My first language I learned was C, and I have done knowledge of GLSL.
DDonde · 31-35, M
JavaScript, Java, some Python, some C++.
Edit: Also vb
