Will a 'system restore' remove a virus that my laptop got today?

I used a softwear that windows prompted me to run once it said i had 3 viruses.
It removed some but said I needed to purchase/ get the trial to remove the rest...

will system restore fix/ rid the virus?

@MalteseFalconPunch thank you. Do you know how to get win rar free? or is it possible? I've had free trials before...I just like downloading junk for my Sims
It kind of sounds like spam ware of someone phishing for money. Idiots will do that they make you think you have a problem with your computer and the only way to fix it is to buy their product.

@curiosi thank you. I will. I have a good pop up blocker but i guess that wasn't enough

@curiosi it's downloading. will it remove virus automatically?

It might. I did that to my old computer, but that was back in 2004. Modern viruses seem to be harder to get rid of

I don’t think so. I would shop some reviews on the internet and pay for the software

That prompt is probably malware. Don’t do it. Yes system restore to a previous date should fix it. If no do a complete restore you’ll have to reinstall many updates though.
Ummmm yeah I think you’ve been suckered by a pop up window that looks like Microsoft but isn’t

No, system restores try not to touch downloaded files.

Maybe, but reloading maybe the real fix ify you really are compromised. Try the software fixes, but back up data- it might be infected, so dont insert anywhere it can infect without great scanning software. Worst case, lose data and reload windows.

Some are not easily removed or even detectable. Try a full operating system re-installation and clean your drives and files:v

System restore won't be the way to go. What software did you use to detect the virus?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@CountScrofula win tonic...which i now know is a virus
