There are several Religious Books , each claimning to be the Absolute Truth. 'Bibles' The ' Torah' ' Koran' etc ETC!!!

My point is Sprituality isnt about the content in any of these books.

Because physically or even Metaphorically speaking if one is Deaf, Dumb, Dyslexic, Blind . How can any of these books teach?

The answer is they cant ..because they have no value to disadvantaged.

Sprituality isnt about what is taught in books.

It is about Consciousness

Ones personal development & growth of the same. Its human understanding and the individuals level of Counscience.

Which determines where they are on their spritual journey in this life.
The instructions on how we should live are intrinsic to our mind & soul.

We dont need to able to read a Religious Book to determine how we should act or react throughout our lifes journey to become our best self.

Yes we can learn from others living example, group together and share our knowledge.

But living by stories untested & unproven, is too wide of the mark for me.

I'm not saying that stories arent valuable, or inspirational.

Stories are all of these things .

But tapping into the essence of ones own soul.. and learning to live our day to day lives by good conscience.

Is as close to finding our 'truth ' than we ever will by any other means in this lifetime.

i dont agree. read them all and find your truth. (or as much as you can) books contain wisdom. there is such a thing as gathered wisdom straight from your inner voice but to expect people to just know without mental/physical/spiritual guidance is pretty silly. i mean the way you are saying it, a baby that never hears a voice or reads a book or learns a language or whatever would know its way through the complexities of life. imean, yeah way back in the day say like the Native Americans, they had their wisdom but it was spoken. Much probably learned though observation, dreams and such but nowadays its much more difficult. books and teachings offer higher concepts for your mind to come to understand. of course this is just one approach. i like the 4 paths of yoga approach to find your own personal way

Yoga philosophy explains four paths:

Bhakti Yoga
Jnana Yoga
Raja Yoga
Karma Yoga

These four paths of yoga are not necessarily separate from each other. All four paths of yoga can be practiced alone or in combination with each other. None of these paths is ‘better’ or ‘more noble’ than the other and they all lead to the same destination.

Read on for a breakdown of each of the four paths of yoga, along with examples on how to practice each path in your daily life.

@Candie She has put it beautifully that
Sprituality isnt about what is taught in books.

It is about Consciousness
Consciousness here is nothing but questioning beyond from one's own experience.

The problem with books is your ready acceptance of what is said as whole and not accepting newer observation.

And you are bringing up Yoga when it has nothing to do with spirituality.

Here lies the basic problem of confining the thought. Why should one's own path be within the 4 ? How different is this from fashion where you choose readymade robes from the market ? ( I am using robe here on purpose and not cloth or dress)

@in10RjFox yes but where do you learn consciousness? maybe not in books but through others and books are an efficient way of communicating. for non reader types then perhaps listening is better or through pictures...

What Are the Four Types of Learning in Education?

Visual learning style. Visual learners are individuals who prefer to take in their information visually—be that with maps, graphs, diagrams, charts, and others.
Auditory learning style. Auditory learners are individuals who learn better when they take in information in auditory form when it is heard or spoken.
Kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic learners are individuals who prefer to learn by doing. They enjoy a hands-on experience.
Reading/Writing. Reading/writing learners consume information best when it’s in words, whether that’s by writing it down or reading it.

Now ya see .. this is arrogance of the learned .. when no other creature other than humans wear clothes ..

So questioning beyond is that .. how life would have been..

And I used fashion here in the context of mind fashioning ..

@in10RjFox well, the advent of the internet has changed things alot. so my perspective is probably a lot different and I learned a lot in a place rich with texts that probably arent so readily available to browse and pick up. so i guess when your choices of clothes are limited then it can be no fun. thats probably why the world is going what seems to me to be fairly badly. but that is my perspective in what I see. i can understand the desire to reject learned knowledge or wisdom and want to go straight to the source but i think all that does in general or for the most part is create a void. our minds are filled with images and the things we see which are probably often manipulated into making us view the world or ourselves a certain way. to fall prey to that is sad. people need to think with their own minds and I think books aid in that regard. not saying teh OP's message cant work for some but I'd think it wouldnt be practical for most.

@Candie Now you are talking practical and ground level.

Internet, and the way we are communicating and exchanging thoughts now ..is entirely new as compared to the days when such books were written. But whatever be, it only their take or hypothesis during their time .. which in my analysis is completely outdated.

But what is important is questioning arguments and analysis for that's the only way to attain wisdom. Knowledge through books gives room for a lot of assumptions and such people only quote books for reference and as proof, but never get to experience, for they impede the intellect from developing.

Start to question the gender and the hoods and the roles .. only then we can know how the philosophers got it wrong and laid the foundation for all our suffering today.

Ever felt such communication through internet as inner voice ? Imagine someone watching you just meddling with your phone .. and find it as you arguing with your own inner self ? 😀😀

Difference between a static book vs dynamic book that gets written as you read!.. a book that you can argue with!

Interestingly in terms of drawing on ones 'Conceience' a child below the age of six is quite reasonably Not expected to be mentally or spiritually learned or mature enough to be held responsible for his or her actions.

However even without social conditioning after the age of six . There is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that in terms of knowing what is basically right or wrong.

A seven year old is instinctively capable of just knowing. Even though they may not all have been party to gleening chapters of wisdom from books.

Our "Conceience" is Intrinsict the more we utilise this the more we
Deepen our Spritual growth .
