I'm Not A Victim, I'm A Survivor

I see the difference between being a victim and a survivor as one focuses on the traumatic events that happened to them while the other works to help others who experienced something similar. But I'm not trying to speak about being a victim as if it's a bad thing. It's important for one to work on themselves and overcome their trauma before trying to help others, even if they really want to. In my case, being a victim of childhood molestation, I worked on myself for a long time but can now say that I have conquered my past. It's not something that has had any long-term emotional trauma to me that I've been able to notice so far. I'm no longer a victim, I'm a survivor. But I'm not going to let it end there. Now I seek to help other victims become survivors and will work to make a difference in my community, at least.
