I Am Looking Foward to Retirement

UPDATE:

I will be retiring September 5
I couldn't make it to 25 years. Therefore I am going at 23.
Life has improved
My husband finally got his govt pension.
Financial wise things are much better.

I'm starting a new chapter...
See where the road will bring me.

Congrats. I too took early retirement because my company had a VRIF and the benefits package was too good to turn down. I was 54 at the time. With your free time find something you like to do and volunteer to help in your town if you can. Pick up a hobby and if your in the Northern Hemisphere winter will be coming before long find something to entertain yourself and your husband. Enjoy your retirement, stay healthy and watch your spending. Hope you have many happy years ahead of you.
Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but...

Just be careful not to overextend yourself. His VA pension should be paid out for the rest of his life... so don't count on it when you are "long-term" budgeting.

You'll need to long-term budget as if he was not receiving that pension and budget around your guaranteed income alone. His income then becomes "icing" on the financial cake so to speak.

I can tell you the story of why I advise this but lets just say "she lost the house" and leave it at that.
When you wake up tomorrow (9/6)…

Remind yourself that now that you are retired...

EVERYDAY is SATURDAY.
