Why do so many people on SW behave as if they care more about politics than about personal feelings?

Don't you think that's a bit, well .... weird?
4meAndyou · F
For me, politics IS about personal feelings. When I hear about something really unjust, or really contrary to our laws, or endangering to human life or just...whacked out...that various politicians are doing, or that they are trying to overturn the Constitution, it upsets me.

I have LOADS of personal feelings for my cat, and for my son, and for a couple of my friends, BUT that doesn't mean I care any less about situations that can mess up jobs, and health, and lives elsewhere in the country.

Sites like SW allow people the freedom to vent and not care about who it may impact.

That obliges the reader of the nonsense to take everything read here with a grain of salt.

90% of the stuff people post here is shite... a shame really. Such a waste of time.

I don’t think it’s literally the same.

Trolling is intentional, saying thing with the sole intent of causing angst.

Some of the political garbage is trolling. But some is just raw stupidity.

@JoeyFoxx It it's done not caring who it impacts, then it's trolling and that's all there is to it.

I dunno. On a website, the impact is a bit intellectual since you don’t get the same feedback as you would in person.

I still see them as different

sadly, it's probably true, they don't know how to treat or talk to people,or function as a human being in the world in general, but will be damned if you question their political views!... seems like a sound mind and strategy to me :/

I think it is because they do care about politics more than feelings.

Personal feelings should always be taken into account first and foremost!
It takes their focus off of personal things.

For some people, their party comes before what's right....
Talking about personal feelings can be difficult sometimes, and it makes people vulnerable.

Politics, on the other hand, is a lot easier to do in the third person.

It is odd, though.
@KENZtheFRENZ I like being around people that can talk about theirselves and their emotions openly as well.

But sometimes it's hard for anyone to do it and sometimes it's easier and even fun to talk about something you're interested in, like, say, song lyrics.

😀

@MistyCee I enjoy talking about song lyrics, also other entertainment like movies and TV comedies. Those are all popular topics in my social circle, whereas politics aren't.
@KENZtheFRENZ Politics are difficult these days. It's hard to talk about them with friends and colleagues, because, at least here, IMO, people have very strong opinions, not just about the issues and the politicians, but about how people react to them.

I don't, for example, talk that much about politics in real life, and I like to talk about it here, where I'm not quite so worried about what happens if I get on a soapbox and express my beliefs and thoughts.

Then again, I like to talk here with people who are different than my social circle in real life. So, there's that.

Screw politics.
KENZtheFRENZ · 31-35, F
Yeah, that is weird.
fabbadmire99 · 36-40, M
It's not weird , they worry about their freedoms or they find it its their passion . There are many reasons why , now why worry about this when you should just find people on here that will focus on your feelings .

Sadly too many have forgotten (or never knew) what Thomas Jefferson wrote:
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.
DaveyTaco · 31-35, M
We are all different. If no one cared about politics then there wouldnt be a president to govern and lead, even tho donald dump is an ass.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I suspect that in a few cases, the person HAS no personal relationships.
emptysoul44 · 41-45, M
In USA these ppl are known as liberals lol.
laotzu92 · 70-79, M
@emptysoul44 sadly true.
A lot of times it all ties in together. The U.S. election made things very different.
A lot of the personal feelings people have—the things they care about most—are tied in with their politics. 🙂
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
Because they kind of do, however, their politics are based on personal feelings.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Because they have been indoctrinated.
