Why is humour one of the biggest causes of conflict between SW members?

The thing about jokes and humor is that they are subjective. If someone laughs at the joke cool. If they get mad or offended just know you can't joke with them like that.

It's unrealistic to assume people should share a similar sense of humor because it makes sense to you. It is what it is.

Maybe cuz not everyone has the same type of humor. Some people think "humour" means acting like an asshole. Maybe because everyone just wants to argue. Maybe because people have nothing better to do than to start random fights online. Pick one.

There's going to be lots of misreading when we don't even define types of comedy the same way. Sarcasm seems to mean a different thing in North America than it does in Europe/Asia. Because of that, I can't use sarcasm online without being misunderstood.

I'll be honest: I think we're going through a comedy nadir. People used to laugh and now they just get offended and outraged.

Add to that the absence of things like vocal inflections or body language (while typing or texting)and you have a perfect storm of misinterpretation.

Mostly because people are dumb

And uptight.

People have different opinions, regarding what is and isn't fun.

Especially when the jokes are misfired
