What’s your favorite thing about your grandparents?

With that, I bid you a good night.

Only ever really knew my Mom's father -- he lived with us the last ten or so years of his life. Amazing man -- professor, historian, etc. Even heard a story that Truman approached him once about serving in his cabinet. But he died when I was just 16, too young to fully appreciate just how much he had done and I regret I was too young to take advantage of the opportunities to talk to him about all the things he'd done and places he'd been. Little hints dropped, like the story of him taking my Mom with him to England just prior to WWII and hanging out with Edward R. Murrow, make me wonder just what he might have been able to talk about if I'd only thought to ask.

My paternal grandparents were very huggy and down to earth. My grandma and I were pen pals and she always told me I looked like her when she was younger. They were of Scandinavian descent and could not pronounce j's, instead of joke they would say yoke. My name starts with a J so it was funny when they said my name with a y.
The way they kept the family connected, hosting holiday gatherings and such.

sadly=I didn't know them
Mostly the fact that they weren't my parents and didn't have to deal with me all the time, so they didn't get as frustrated.
my nan has alzheimer's and sends mr birthday money every week lol

I never knew my grandfathers but my grandmas were awesome. My favorite memory is probably spending days with my Gramma ( paternal) going to Woolworths were I would go look at the animals and toys whiile she shopped then she would let me pick out a small cheap item if I behaved> Then get a grilled cheese at the lunch counter in the store. Then we would go back to her hoiuse before she would take to play bingo with here at the Ukie church where the old Nuns made the best galumpkis and perogis in the basement to serve to the bingo players.

I use to love that when I was lad.
