Do you think the categories for Politics and Religion should be removed from SW?

Questions on those two topics always seem to result in the most toxic comment threads. What is the easiest way to stop those? Remove those two categories, I say.

I think if you removed them then people would just post their stuff in miscellaneous. I say leave the topic and I'll just avoid it. Much easier than me having to scroll through the drivel of hundreds of miscellaneous posts to find one that isn't religion or politics. People are going to post what they want no matter what the moderators do, short of banning them, so at least if they post in the right topic I can avoid it if I don't want to see it.

@FrankietheFly I don't know why. I try to be nice to everyone, but I do see mean folks being mean to weaker persons. I think the internet allows people to be too bold. I make it a rule to be real and to never act harsher on the net than I would if someone was sitting in front of me. Having been here from the start I based my response to what I saw firsthand. They added the additional categories because of what I described above. I think there is a way to adjust your interests not to see all of them, but I can't remember how to do it now.

People will find a way to be disrespectful one way or another if that's what they are like. To say we can't talk about this topic or thay topic because it offends some seems to defeat the whole purpose of this site where members speak of all manner of topics which are offensive to some but they are looking for the few that they can relate to; thus the name "Similar Worlds "

I just avoid them or read them to see others views. Not much could be said to change my views over almost 70 years.
