I Realized Upon Reflection
I realized upon reflection.
Where is this world headed to?
What is the ultimate goal of humanity?
To answer that, I only have to look at our reflection in the mirror. We are a species who dominates the whole world. We rised on the food chain till we ourselves were able to dictate it. We wanted more and more, but is there no end to human ambition?
Now that the Earth is ours, we still want more. We want more planets to use up, pollute and eventually destroy. We still don't have them, yet we are doing as if we did. Every day wasting and consuming the amount of resources not even 3 planets could provide us. When will this nonsense stop? I refuse to believe it will stop when everything is lost. That is just giving up on ourselves as well as on humanity.
We usually speak of seven deadly sins, yet I believe there is one that surpasses all. Ignorance, chosen ignorance derived from self-deception, which enables us to accept what we have and do nothing to change it. That is a lie. Determinism is another topic to discuss, yet using it as an excuse to justify our careless lives is simply shameful.
Let's stop pretending. Let's stop just caring for ourselves and think about the future generations, maybe you yourself, or your children. When acknowledging the future will be bleak, is it worth it living the last 10 years of luxury? Or is it time to start doing something to change that future? Hope is not lost as long as there is another person fighting for that cause. Will you be part of that hope?
It is easy. Just inform yourself. Simple every day actions will make a difference. Using cloth bags instead of plastic, buying food not wrapped in plastic, suggesting your friends to do the same... That is a starting point. Then speak up, let your voice join that of millions. Exige actions to your politics, not just beautiful words.
