I really thought this was fake, some fake outrage story to get Marvel attention. But it's real. Safespace and Snowflake? And the other characters are equally stupid. A fat black woman with huge lips without any super powers but has a magical backpack. So....racist characature Dora the explorer. I'm not a big comics fan but if I was I'd be even more pissed.Im still hoping it's an April fool's joke.
It's either a really great joke or the worst thing ever. It's weird because it caters to a demographic thats almost none existent outside of twitter world.
@Luchs The preview panels are showing her with much lighter skin so she's coming up as Asian or latina now. Somehow I find it worse than admitting it was a bad decision and redrawing.
@MartinTheFirst Yeah, it's funny and cringy either way. And if it's a joke I'm got good. When I get away from the bad character creation it's funny. Just I hope they're not surprises if it isnt the hit they're pandering for.
@MartinTheFirst Oh no, one thing that can be mistaken isnt racist. But when you have multiple things that fit a racist stereotype it gets dicey. The big lips, obesity, she was described as diabetic and with anger issues. Put it all together and it gets prickly.
@MartinTheFirst ok cool. I just dont like seeing stereotypes pile on top of each other. But not as much as I dislike an ugly research of Dora the explorer.
