I hate how I get the same question from people every single time I tell people about my fiancé and I.
So one of the main reasons my fiancé and I hit it off so well is that we found out we were both adopted from the same county. I’m 23. He’s 22. He was born in the capital of Belarus. And I was born like 20-40miles south east of there.
When we started dating we sat down and went though our adoption paper work. And found that my mom was 16 his was in her 30s or 40s. And because of the culture if we shared the same dad my previous middle name would have been his previous last name.
We look similar in terms of our nose and a little bit around the eyes but that’s it. I had dark brown hair and I tan really easily. He’s pasty white and has dirty blonde hair. He has high metabolism and mines average. His eyes are hazel and mine are brown. He’s tall I’m short.
But sooooo many people say shit like “are you sure you’re not related?” “You guys could be brother and sister” “have you guys checked?” It ticks me off every single time because Irish people look similar. Asians look similar. Mexicans look similar you know why? Because they’re from the same country! But you wouldn’t dare ask the same race couples if they’re related would you?
Besides we have to do a blood test before we get married so even on the off chance we are, that’s between us. And if so well then I gained a lifelong best friend.
I can’t stand how many times I get asked that question to the point I want to call them racist. How ignorant can people be? You don’t think we would have checked ourselves before we got involved? Do we have kids yet? No. Then drop it.
