From an anthropological standpoint, singling out or being antagonistic to those that are different from the group, probably behooved the group as a whole. Although this behavior is shunned, or at least should be shunned, in modern society, it is still deep down in our primitive brains. It takes an evolved mind to understand that the way you look was determined tens of thousands of years ago by your ancestors who traveled out of Africa and slowly evolved/adapted to better suit their environment.
It sounds silly to congratulate you for using your cerebral cortex to make decisions, but realizing the huge number of racists that exist on this planet (especially in the US), I do, in fact, offer my congratulations.
