Don't worry about it.

You can set the sensitivity and blank off areas you don't want to cover in the settings menu thus not to upset them.

I would feel weirded out of my neighbor put one up facing MY door, that's why I asked.

I like that you care about your neighbors. No, not intrusive. In the world as it is, they can only know you are being protective. Maybe they could put one up, too.
