Scotland is now the first country in the world to make period products free.

Brb, catching a 4 hour train so I can bleed and feel rich at the same time.

I'm still confused, do stores have to stock them? Or why would they stock them, if they can't make money off of them?

Also, can I successful argue that condoms are a period product, as without them, there could major effect on the period cycle, this potential effect, making it a (part time/half ass) period product.
MarcelineF
@Viper you have to pick them up in certain places and its only one brand.. most women wil still buy their favorite brand in their normal shopping routine but tis a big help for people who are homeless or on a food stamp equivalent
ViperM
@Marceline that's what I thought about the certain places. I thought one would have to go to the government places, but I saw in a different thread about this , people talking like you could get them at any normal store, etc.

Makes sense, thank you :)
MarcelineF
@Viper that said if people used more cups instead its cheaper and produces less waste too and healthier for your vagina

It's a beautiful thing.

I mean making period products free not your menstruation. Not to say it sn't beautiful. Er. I mean in an abstract feminist sort of way. Oh fuck Dave you've done it again how are we getting out of this one now everyone thinks we're weird. I'm weird. Just me.
NickiHijabF
@CountScrofula no, my menstruation is a pretty beautiful thing too, well.. when she's not trying to drop my serotonin levels like they're hot.

I remember during my first year of uni when they gave out free tampons and pads and I felt like I hit jackpot. They were multi coloured. The diverse range.. It's everything I could ever hope for and more and now you have Scotland just showing off.
CountScrofula41-45, M
@NickiHijab Obnoxious really. Go there and loot the joint. Get pads that you can secretly colour coordinate with your outfit and or makeup and then slightly sad you can't show it off to as many people as you want to.

Scotland always gets nice things 馃憖
NickiHijabF
@adorbz they deserve it, they have annoying neighbours
adorbz26-30, F
@NickiHijab yeah...you鈥檙e right 馃槅
Now they need to make tubal ligations free and accessible and pay for the time off work. 馃憖
NickiHijabF
@AmbivalentFriability I always feel guilty when asking for time off work, although I shouldn't and because I work with men the lack of understanding makes it so much more annoying.

Politicians only care about gestures. If they really cared about population, they would ensure that goods and services that EVERYONE uses, like housing, electricity, internet, are affordable for everyone.
NickiHijabF
@Cierzo politicians are full of shit and we have other issues to address too, what's new?
Period poverty however still exists and this is a step in the right direction.
CierzoM
@NickiHijab If we take this measure on its own, it os helpful...but taking into account the day they chose to do it, and there is only aimed at a certain collective, it is purely political and divisive.
