If you were to loose all your memories would you be effectively dead?

There is a documentary about this, [i]The Prisoner of Consciousness[/i], about a man named Clive Wearing, who lost most of his memories after contracting encephalitis. He is also unable to form new memories, and has a working short-term memory of only a few seconds.

@reflectingmonkey I haven't seen the documentary, but look up "Clive Wearing" on YouTube and there's quite a bit of material.
