Or it could be that 1) he’s not stupid enough to [i]not[/i] have a lock on the phone as that would make his $800 to $1400 device a more tempting target for theft, 2) having it on silent is a guaranteed way to avoid having work meetings interrupted by a spam calls and 3) placing a phone face down is a great way to mitigate damage to an expensive and important screen should anything accidentally be dropped on the phone.
