How much youtubers make through their channels?

Not much, especially since the Adpocalypse. Anything remotely controversial (including talking about LGBT rights) gets demonetized and the rates of ad compensation are extremely low anyway.

Since most of them just copy each other while claiming to be "keeping it real..." and there are just so many "life hacks" you can watch and use, not that much.

most of them, a few dollars a month, maybe 100 or 200...only a few make enough for a living...and even fewer make millions...

That completely depends on how many views they get and how many videos they make

That depends on views, watch time hours ,comments and subscribers count. It'll be different for everyone. In order to get started with monetizing your videos you have to have 1,000 subscribers then you have to wait to be approved. You can make a lot on youtube though. It just depends on a lot of things.

Depends upon how many views/subscriptions you can generate. One of my son's favorites earns over $9 million per year.
