I guess I just don't get the whole "Wedding Gift Registry" deal...

A girlfriend got hitched. I attended with a gift..blah..blah..blah.

Then I received this elaborate thank you card for "said gift".

Took no thought what so ever. I simply typed in her name and there was the picture of the ugly ass salad bowl she picked out.

It was lol. By the 3rd light box of the same size we were onto them.

Anyhow, when I first came across the online registries, I thought what you did - takes the special-ness out of the gesture. But today I'm even comfortable enough to ask a parent if the couple would actually prefer cash. Many young couples go in debt on their wedding & reception.

And believe me, that day is coming when whatever you give isn't acknowledged with a thank-you card. Then you can think of me and say "That wise old fuck!" :)

It has it's purpose. If people make use of it then it can cut down on duplicate gifts being purchased.

@Pambi Haha, yea that one might have been safe...but not everyone can be so creative. No registry and they likely end up with one Disco Ball ceiling fixture and 87 sets of towels.
