Will women earn more or be the main "breadwinners" in the future?

I haven't been on for some time so I thought I'd kick off with a controversial question again. This particularly relevant since the wage gap scandals that are popping up everywhere.

I came across the topic in reading for an essay and found loads of mainstream news sites and research predicting women taking the lead in work and education. Since more women going to university in men and now for the first time in many countries more women are in work than men.

From this come predictions for more men staying home while their female partner works and also females taking most leadership and best payed positions within work and government in the next 20 or 30 years. Men becoming "homemakers" en masse sounds a little far fetched to me but again people are saying it will likely happen.

This is by no means a feminist rant or anything as I just find all of this interesting rather than empowering or whatever.

Do you think there will be a shift like this or it's just sensationalist trash?

Also, on a side note, how would you all like living in a world like that?

@FelixLegion I've seen one-upmanship relationships. They can be really messy.

I'd say it's very likely that this will be how things will go. Gender roles are already being redefined and studies are even suggesting that families with a female earner and male caregiver are the most successful today.

I think it will stay the same as it is. You can鈥檛 really predict things like this because people are really unpredictable; its just a shot in the dark.

Now if the world was like that...
If someone wants to work to support me whilst I stayed at home. They are welcome to. lol
Divorce risks escalate dramatically when women out earn the man but its a lovely pipe dream...
Ridger26-30, F
@HazPassportForYourGalaxy I saw that too. It was linked to the feeling of emasculation in some case and feeling the need to provide. It's whether or not that state of mind will change I think.
@Ridger I disagree that the men are the source of the problem but appreciate you sharing your view. TY

@HazPassportForYourGalaxy I didn't mean to say they were entirely blame lol.

In time... Most likely the next generation... But it's being built and it'll be strong when finished
Mugin1646-50, M
@ozgirl512 Do you think it will happen as described in the post?
SwarmSonaF
it might start off as a shift but it will even out eventually. Or it will shift back and forth endlessly

I can't see any problem with any of it. What ever works best for their family, that's what I say.

Plenty of women make more than me. Plenty of women make less than me. It鈥檚 not based on gender.
Each gender will equally contribute to the relationship. Both in money and effort invested..

Pc culture is forcing companies to give them jobs they aren't qualified for (thats not to say there aren't educated women that I respect). And it's demonstrably creating problems

@ElvishPresley What nail. You have used tactics of the very group you seem to dislike so much. I bring up valid points of concern, you largely ignore my points and talk about something unrelated that I don't even hold too. It's like you aren't listening and isn't that what radical feminists today are accused of, engaging in a monologue with society while acting as if they want a discussion?
pianoplayingsteve31-35, M
@ElvishPresley thank you my friend. However I'm now not just going to hit the nail on the head. I'm going to hit the specific nail on the specific part. Some random Muslim living in the middle east has no empathy for these feminists to blackmail them over. They also have no wealth or power for them to take. However, these dominantly white, wealthy westerners have a conscience they can blackmail and the wealth and power worth blackmailing them over

@Ridger that's because he's talking to me I don't think he's meaning to ignore you :)
