I Am Determined to Let Nothing Stop Me Achieving My Dreams

So, recently I have been do the doctors about to take blood and they checked for my thyroid and it is quite bad. My doctor had implied to me that it would be better for my health if I was to get surgery do some of my weight issues and said that if my thyroid does not level out with my meds then I would have to make some serious changes in my life. I am going to get Gastric Bypass surgery hopefully early next year to help my weight. I have also decided I will go on a diet consuming only chicken and beef for my meats and vegetarian for the rest. I do need protein but also a lot of vitamins and nutrients. And I plan on doing this diet for a long time. It is time I get real serious with my health and body. I will admit that I used eat junk food and drink drinks with a lot of sugar. I’m definitely going to start exercising a lot more, maybe do some military workouts. I know when I get this surgery it will take a month to two months to heal fully which means I won’t be able to participate in the fire department for a while after I get the surgery. I am so ashamed of myself for letting this issue get this far.

This is a medical issue. Learning to take care of yourself is great and will pay off (especially as you get older). But please don't be down on yourself for the past which you can't change. There are many reasons people gain weight. You are now going to do what you can. Self care can be hard at times. Don't emphasize shame; tell yourself you deserve to be healthy and happy.

Thank you. That made me feel good. I shouldn’t feel ashamed but I did speed up the weight gaining by eating junk food and drinking sodas.@greenmountaingal
