I Went To The Movies Alone

One dark semi-rainy evening in Portland, Oregon, back in the 1970s, I was feeling down and decided it would cheer me up to go to a movie.

I wound up at a drive-in movie. When I drove in and parked my '55 Oldsmobile, I noticed that on this rainy Tuesday night there was one other car there, an old faded yellow Volkswagen. One man was in it.

I got really nervous, and kept asking myself, what kind of a nutjob would go to a drive-in movie in the rain on a Tuesday night?

Just as I'd come to the conclusion that he might be dangerous, he turned around and looked at me...and I could see he was afraid of me. Because, it suddenly hit me, he was thinking the exact same thing!

That was it? No, "two hearts that began to beat as one", or anything?...

@walabby: We just checked each other out. I think we were too depressed to want to do more than watch the movie.

That made me smile! :)
By the way, do you recall the movie you saw?

@OzDiver: I'm pretty sure it was a Woody Allen comedy. Maybe Take the Money and Run.

Haaaaaaa... was it an deluxe Olds 88 ??

@Goralski: No, just a two tone blue and white Oldsmobile that I still miss. It was like driving a boat.
