I Have Trichotillomania

this episode i am in has lasted for over 2 hours.
i have a really important test in a day and i have't properly STARTED studying yet. I keep thinking that it's over and i force my hand to stop. a minute later and my scalp feels weird and my hand goes back up.
i keep imagining myself bald and oh my i really don't want that. My lap is filled with my hair.
if my mom sees this she will be furious. she will scream and shout and say things she shouldn't.
I need to find a place to hide them.
I think it's over for now.

What????
Are you really losing hair or is this just something inside your head,I am confused
If you really are then I believe you have bigger issues to worry about than your test

It's a real thing:

a compulsive desire to pull out one's hair.
@firefall: then she must see a doctor for this
This is real serious
She should not try to hide

@FallenOptimist22: Well given that she knows the name of the affliction, I'm guessing she's seen a doctor about this already - and that her mother is aware and reacts to attacks in a severely negative & useless way. But I admit I'm just adducing* this from minimal evidence.

@iamnoor: if I'm wrong in my assumption, yes please see a doctor & a specialist. I know there are amino-acid treatments being tested by Mayo Clinic & elsewhere that show very hopeful results in managing compulsions like these.

*classy way of saying 'wild-ass guess'

@firefall: This is yet to be an option. I hope it would be someday,, or maybe i wouldn't need it when that day comes.
Thank you, tho

@iamnoor: Well if you don't need it when it's available, that'd be great.

Not sure what you're thanking me for tho :) - one of my close friends back in the 70s went through this for 8 or 10 years, back before there was even a name for it, and i got to see how distressing it was, up close.

@firefall: i hope that you never to go through that ever again :)

@iamnoor: well, me too - but Id rather be observing it than enduring it myself, I must say.

If there's anything I can do for you, if you need a sympathetic ear at any time, feel free to message me.
