I Have Trichotillomania

I don't have an official diagnosis, but I sometimes spend an hour just looking for split ends in my hair and cutting off the part of the hair that's damaged. I used to just yank out the whole strand, but last year, I found that I had given myself a bald spot and I had to be careful of how I parted my hair to hide the bald spot. I've heard that it's a good idea to see a psychiatrist about this, but I haven't seen one yet. I feel like I could be more productive if I didn't feel the need to stare at my hair so much.

@LastingSunshine Yeah, when I told my mom about it, she told me to just stop, but she didn't realize how hard that would be for me to do. And I have been looking for other ways to de-stress, but the problem is that pulling a few strands is just easier to do, and it's something I can do whenever wherever, but I am trying to find other stuff to preoccupy myself.

I do that a lot, it started when I was having a hard time and didn't stop yet. The thing I hate the most about it is when people criticize you in a hurtful way though they don't know what you were going through. I believe if you find another way to relieve stress it'll get better

I understand you perfectly, and it would be stupid to tell you that it gets better with time , because for me it didn't. But I suggest you find distractions , for example, if you find yourself thinking about doing it do something else. It won't happen in a few days though
