I Own Property

Ugh... I'm worried about being drug through this neighborhood and being burned at the stake like a witch or something...

Lessons from a surveyor: fence installers are idiots... get your property surveyed by a third party when installing please... otherwise this crap happens...

It's really a problem with the city, the dumbass engineer who probably was fresh out of college didn't translate the development plat over into the tax map correctly. Exactly, the city has a 4. 3ft descrepency from the original plat... Only problem... everybodies fences are built off of this discrepency..

So basically, my property ends 5 Ft into the neighbors fenced in yard, and their property ends 5 Ft into their neighbors fenced in yard and so on and so on and so on until the end of the block.

I'm federally tasks with finding where the descrepency is at in order for this survey to be finished....

So I'm searching in every neighbors back yard for a corner 5 Ft off of where they all think it is.... Trying to find anything that reads out from the correct plat so I can have evidence to say its the citys fault....

All the neighbors who are home on this block are watching me, waiting for answers.... we r just gonna leave once the entire block is measured or until we find a corner that measures out correctly.

I don't want to know what they would do to me if I told them everyone's fence is on their neighbors property.... if I'm right, all these property owners are going to have to fight for the city to pay to fix all their fences...

I'm going to get my ass kicked... I swear...

The first problem I see, the city was involved. When you get the government involved at ANY level you got trouble. If enough people are involved I can see a class action brewing.

The city made a mistake yes, but any decent surveyor would've noticed that. If those fence companies or owners had a decent survey done it wouldn't have mattered... Besides... who do u think gives me the original plats and keeps updated records of changes in properties?

I don't want to get political or anything though.... but the government wasn't involved in the construction of those fences.... they just had one mistake on a tax map.

@antoniotomato would it be up to the fence erectors to make sure the plans are right? Surely they just operate off the plans they are given, it's a manual job not a technical one.

U get the tax map, u get the plat. You would get them at the same clerks office.

It's up to the fence companies to make sure the fence starts and ends up the right place withing the ordiance if the area... It's just like adding an addition onto your house, u have to get it sur eyed and make sure you aren't gonna screw something up.

@antoniotomato Sounds like the fence companies were just cutting corners and trying to just get it done.

Sounds about right to me. That's y I'm saying, get your shit done by a surveyer. None of it would've happened. It didn't need to happen, but not ... Well fuck idk what everyone is gonna do... city is probably just tanks rezone so they don't have to fix the problem... It's a mess.
