I Have Never Broken a Bone
30 To 35 Ft Fall... I am fairly spry most of the time, but if I get inattentive it's not good.
Such an occurrence happened in the 90's for me. I was working for a movie theater and since I am a workaholic, I was always willing to take extra hours to do other work such as painting, changing ceiling tiles, etc. that were not in my job desc<x>ription. On this particular morning, Me and another fellow were disassembling the scaffold in one of our auditoriums up front near the screen and the wall. I was at the top of the scaffold approximately 30 to 35 ft and handing down a section of scaffold to the other guy. At that moment my left hand decided to pop open, who knows why. I instinctively tried to wrap my feet around the fr<x>ame I was standing on, but in shoes that was impossible. So I fall back into the wall, slide down, and land sideways shoulder first & then the rest of me. Next to my head were all the pipes for the scaffold. My glasses were under me with a popped out lens, but otherwise serviceable. My boss tells me not to move and a ambulance is called and I am whisked off to the ER. Turns out I didn't break anything. For my trouble, I had a rug burn on my back from the wall carpet which also ruined a nice T-shirt, a shoulder that hurt but otherwise OK, and a slightly strained left ankle where I had tried to hold the step with my foot. I realize I was darn lucky. The fall was quick and terrifying. It is a majorly disconcerting when you realize you are falling and can't stop it.
