Have you ever had a strange conversation with a recruitment agent?

Agent: We have this opening in a company called YYgstsyuYoMamma%%%YY. I saw your profile online, your skills are exactly what they are looking for.

Me: Sorry, I don't know where you got that profile from, but I don't need a job. I'm working for myself since July 2019.
Agent: Oh that's cool. If you ever change your mind, please call me back.

I don't know what he meant by change my mind. Like abandon my project and join the dingy little company he was talking about?
Same!! I get calls saying they found my resume on their job website. When I tell them, I haven鈥檛 applied for one, and ask them the name of their job website, they hang up! 馃槀

@Vivaci My organization is small, I only have 30 employees all licensed to work on power systems. They all went through real life problems. Like the electrician who鈥檇 work on a circuit breaker, we mocked several faults for him without the hazards. The engineers have to go through hell of a time.

And managers? No we didn鈥檛 hire managers. I believe this area of work needs thorough in-depth technical knowledge than just management skills. We are not planning to expand. Just maintain what we have.

Then arrived the problem of data and you know you gotta pay an arm and a leg to hire a programmer who鈥檇 just write 10 lines of code and wrap up for the day. We trained some of our staffs to write the code to process data. Nothing fancy, just good enough to make sense out of all that the sensors and devices are sending.

There鈥檚 no way anyone can bs their way through this. We have a couple of guys in their 70s working with us. They say they have never been happier at a job.

And these numbnuts call me to sell their shit. Thanks but no thanks.
馃ぉ Sounds like you鈥檙e running a successful venture there, my friend. That鈥檚 awesome...and having a loyal and happy employee is hard to come by these days. Speaks volumes of your management skills. So proud of you...馃馃挋@SW-User

@Vivaci Thank you, my friend. I believe like minded people can make it happen. It's everyone's effort. I believe leadership is not all about telling people what to do, but to give them the freedom to lead in what they are good at. We learn from each other and we grow.

We still encounter people like this,

but not anymore.

In my experience, all conversations with recruitment agents are strange.

For totally unclear reasons, they seem astonished that I'm not fascinated by whatever job they happen to be promoting at the moment even though my interest and, honestly, the fit are about zero.

@FrozenWasteland Pretty much
NanoriF
At a job interview they gave us a written test, and after that they called us in and asked us about our answers

So I went in when they called me and
Them: why did you write a wrong answer for this question?

@Nanori I don't think these interviewers know what they are doing.

he sees you can make THEM Money instead of just for yourself

@FurryFace These guys are funny. I have a few of them call me in past couple of weeks and the things they say is pretty hilarious.

@SW-User you must be Very Smart
SW-User
@FurryFace Thank you. Education and training has helped. Rest comes with experience.
SW-User
Not me, but my husband has, they're generally a lot of time wasters
SW-User
@SW-User They actually are. I used to get calls from a lot of shady dudes when I lived in land down under.
SW-User
@SW-User you have to get clever, my husband does not have spare random half hours to be talking to these people, and when he does and its a load of bs, all it does is make him more cynical about these people
