I have been pretty blessed over my 20+ year career.
I’ve never had more than a 20 minute commute. I get paid well enough. Nobody ever complains that I get in the office super early so I could always be there for my son in the afternoon.
I made a few sacrifices though. I only toyed with middle management once and decided it wasn’t worth it. I am probably at the top-tier of non-management salaries/bonuses.
I think I will make up for that in a few years by becoming a full-time contractor/consultant. Those hourly salaries look good but I just can’t handle the travel yet.

I think so. I give 110% during the week to work/school and spend most of each weekend doing what I love.
