Do women getting paid the same as men create problems?

SW-User
A man works on the factory floor, who works from 1, has his lunch at, say, 7, and gets off at midnight. He makes 12/hr.

A woman is the receptionist. She arrives at work at 8, takes her lunch at noon, then leaves at 3. She makes 9/hr.

They both get unpaid half-hour lunches.
He works in the hot factory floor, surrounded by health hazards.
She works in the air-conditioned office behind a desk. No bodily harm possible.

Should she make as much as he does?

Of course not, that's absurd. They're vastly different jobs.

Of course, that was for argument's sake.

Now, say she also works on the production floor. Same job, same everything. However, she's a single mom. On Tuesdays and Thursdays she has to go fetch her kid from her sister. So, she has to clock out at eight .

Should she make as much as he does?

Of course... for the hours that she worked. Because it's the same job.
But should she receive a full day's pay?

No, because she had to care for her child.

Should they be paid the same amount? No, because a different amount of work was performed and less money earned.

If she received the same net pay as her friend, doing the same job, but working fewer hours, that would be an issue, because that would not be fair.
