Mostly, it is assumed that someone seeking a degree in a particular discipline wants to be an expert in that field. If you are doing charcoal sketches in Mexico for a year and then return to science, you may find yourself dramatically short of the leading edge.

Right. I went to school and am thinking " i dont want to do this my entire life". I've been so deprived. All i want to do is travel.

They mean to conform you to control you. Do what you want. I've been bouncing around and I went to colleg. Nothing beats doing what makes you happy. Just set some money aside in case. Have fun.
