I Am Grieving A Loss
We had to have our beautiful one year old husky put to sleep on Monday (Jan 6, 2020); his name was Sonny. Sonny had been on a series of antibiotics for kennel cough, but was re-diagnosed with valley fever at the end of November 2019. By the end of the year Sonny’s health had declined drastically. We took him to the vet on December 26th to have him put down as he seemed to be in a great deal of pain. The vet refused to euthanize Sonny; he felt that he was young and strong enough to overcome this disease. Over the course of eleven and half days we watched Sonny continue to suffer, in hopes that at some point the vet would be right and Sonny would begin to get better. This past Monday morning I took Sonny outside to go potty and he collapsed to the grass. Sonny had suffered enough; it would have been cruel to allow him to go on like that. I have to be honest, as much as I wanted the vet to be right; I wish Sonny would not have had to suffer on eleven and a half days more than he should have had to. Rest in peace my sweet Sonny-boy.
