I Still Enjoy Reading Children's Books

"The train rattled on through the countryside, the telegraph poles whipping by. I counted a hundred of them, before I got bored with it. Raindrops were chasing each other down the windows. I was looking up at the clouds then, watching the smoke from the train rising up, becoming part of them - now part of a roaring lion cloud, then a map of Britain cloud, then more like a one-eyed giant's face. It was a deep dark eye, a moving eye. It took me some moments to realise that the giant's eye was an aeroplane. By the time I knew and understood that properly, I found I couldn't make out the giant's face in the cloud any more. It was just a cloud with an aeroplane flying out of it. "

This is from page 50 of 'An Eagle in the Snow' by Michael Morpurgo. All little boys and girls fast becoming little adults should read his books. I am relishing these moments. A cloudy morning with just music box sounds and a Michael Morpurgo story. This is how a long weekend should be.

Thankyou for sharing this. I must admit I also enjoy my old schoolboy and teen books. Memories of reading on winter's day tucked away in my private place at home. Now, aged these books bring my memories and soul to life again. And even now, they are great stories of simple adventures and always home in time for tea!

So beautiful and dreamy. The story and the music.

Have not watched Spirited Away. Would keep it on my list. The list is definitely getting longer.
