The better question is why is the kid still wearing nappies beyond, say 2 or 3? If it's lazy parenting, then the kid is probably too old. If they're genuinely struggling to stay dry, then it's OK for the kid to still be in nappies.

No such thing as too old. If the child or adult has problems holding their urine and feces they need to be in diapers till the problem stops.

I believe that it depends on the individual. My kids are now grown up and both had frequent accidents when they were young, as I did, and needed diapers until they were teenagers. My daughter now has complete control but still enjoys wearing diapers for relaxation. My son still has accidents and gets very embarrassed when he wets in public so welcomes the protection.

You're never too old for them... OR too young.
