I Am Confused By Celebrity Worship

I don't get the whole Russell Brand thing and how he's considered to be some kind of 'voice of the people' or 'Messiah figure' or 'truthteller', he used to be good at least for a while but once he did the whole 'Revolution' schtick he just became a walking punchline and flat out just pulled a Charlie Sheen.
