Still think America is a"free" country?

The Trump administration has just announced that applicants for visas to the U.S. will have to answer a question offering up their usernames for many social media platforms.
Now SW doesnt seem to be on the list so far. But this will allow your Anti Trump posts to be scanned on Twitter, Facebook and all the other major players. Not that I was planning a return trip while the President of Hatie was in charge.
Would you like fries with your Paranoia?😂

Or it could prevent those that are using Facebook to recruit to ISIS from entering the country.
@curiosi Yeah because criminals file official paperwork with the government all the time. Give me a break. That is so weak it is an insult to thinking people.

America has never been a "free" country. It has always existed for the rich, by the rich, and of the rich.

Maybe it's because the last few administrations has allowed anyone to enter this country. Better screening process could have prevented 9/11

@SW-User But we allow people in from Saudi Arabia....🤔
SW-User
@SmartKat I don't think we should allow anyone in at all anymore so I don't know where you're trying to go with that
SW-User
@Adaydreambeliever no the planes did not come from outside of the states. The terrorists did not live in the states. And of course more people are killed by guns. Gangs in the inner city love to shoot each other, and gunshots are a very popular method to commit suicide.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Ha ha well I am screwed then! Seriously, this is big brother gone mad.. Americans go on about freedom.. and I get that.. but this move is a serious step down the road of freedom.. And hey, how about all the other countries do the same.. although in fairness many Americans don't travel outside the States?
Miram · 31-35, F
They asked me for this years ago. This isn't a new policy and it's not restricted to the US.

No, I never thought it's a free country. But to me giving out social media accounts doesn't restrict freedom anymore than listing your parents and grandparents full names and their judicial records along yours for a visa. It's a matter of priorities, which is more detrimental to freedom? Not getting a visa because your social media mentions ISIS or getting to jail because you refuse to wear the scarf or fast in ramadan, or ...etc.
Oh shut up...
Heaven forbid potential threats give up their identity..
God damn you sound like a moron..
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout And I am sure every terrorist has a username like Allahismyboy666 and not Fluffybunny69 and will give up that information. This is only going to provide after the event tracking.
SmartKat · 56-60, F
I never use my real name for anything online except job-hunting and buying things.

I use one email account for those purposes. If the brownshirts question me about social media, that is the email account I’ll give them. I’ll just neglect to mention other email accounts and social media accounts where I don’t use my real name.

@pagandad Tell your hotels and tourism operators that.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@pagandad I would say... well make sure all those Americans don't go visiting other countries with their loud ill-mannered ways.. but most of them are so insular and afraid of their own shadow that they never leave their own shores anyway.. I would say and make sure they stop exploiting other countries and stay home..but that's never going to happen..
(There are nice, intelligent Americans but from what we see here they seem to be in the minority :( )

I think Trump want to be king or something like that. Saying anything negative about him would be treasonous if he has his way.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SimplyTracie When in fact voting for him is tantamount to treason against the intentions of the Constitution. Even allowing for it having been written by white male landowners.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I’d second that. 😊
lou502008 · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman maybe President Trump is a descendant of one of those "White Male landowners"!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
What would happen if you do not have a social-media account?

Or you have two, three or more, with a different user-name for each?

Or if you use only a small, special-interest forum, perfectly respectable but unlikely to be on some CIA-approved list? At least its existence would be easy to verify, if the visa-application official is allowed more initiative than the average database-jockey.

What though would happen if an applicant genuinely just does not use any forum or chat-site - perhaps chooses not to use the Internet? Would he or she simply not be allowed to visit the USA even for a holiday?

Coming soon.....a loyalty oath.
SW-User
@SW-User maybe something like a pledge perhaps a pledge of allegiance
SW-User
To the President? @SW-User
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User Good Point. Maybe if Americans had to hand over all their usernames to get a government job? I buy a gun?? I just think its absurd. Just another reason not to be on Facebook.. If you needed one more.
HerKing · 61-69, M
It's only visa applicants now...It will be everyone later. Trump has said in the past that the internet should be censored. Funny how Trumpers don't object to that when under Obama they'd have had pitchforks outside the WH if it had become policy.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@HerKing How would he Tweet without the Internet?
And conservatives were scared of the NSA. Those of us who lean left of center are used to this. J. Edgar Hoover regularly monitored people involved in the Civil Rights Movement, organized labor, and of course, anyone self identified in liberal, progressive or even Socialist or Communist groups (even though none of that is illegal). So this will not be new to us, although it’s pretty hypocritical of the so-called “Conservative First Amendment” champions.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
The precaution is simple - irrespective of new US laws, if you are concerned about your privacy don't use sites like Facebook; and use search sites like Google with discretion and if possible so you don't suggest any particular patterns likely to interest their advertising-agency clients.

Outlook recently started to allow you to select which advertising agencies' cookies you allow. When I saw there are hundreds of these blighters, I select "All Off". You need to this every time you turn on Outlook, because if it saves your settings at all as it invites, it does so only for that session. It takes only about 4 clicks!

Would you like some more milk for your pussy? You’re the paranoid one.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@JustinOnTheRoad My pussies hate Trump too :P

@Adaydreambeliever But he said, when you’re a star, women let you grab their pussy. You should rethink your patriotism. 😝
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
Isn't that a great thing that I'm not active on any of those.

Also, isn't it a great thing that the Trump administration announced that after they gave me the visa.
Tracos · 51-55, M
This was already in place 2 years ago...
...it's actually one of the reasons I don't want to go to the us anymore
lou502008 · 61-69, M
@Tracos ever think we dont want you to visit?
SW-User
Nothing surprises me anymore
its more about security. whats there to hide hmmm? so many people now a days use online in terms of threats or even terror group activity.
lou502008 · 61-69, M
if it's not free, tell me why all these illegals are crossing our borders? Why are they coming here?????
@lou502008 Because countries like the US and UK made their countries uninhabitable.
lou502008 · 61-69, M
