Anyone been to Bangkok.?

Planning to go in early September...for a 4day tour to Bangkok and Pattaya...any suggestions? Ideas ? And tips?

I went there for a few days with my wife. I am not really into cities but really liked Bangkok. The Royal Palace was spectacular. Dinner river cruise great too. Thai's are lovely people even in the city. There is a lot to do there, we just scratched the surface.

Usual scams with a city - but no real drama and no feeling of any danger. e.g. taxi not putting the meter on (we got straight out), we asked for the nearest river bus but got taken to a river cruise place instead (taxi driver knew what he was doing and was on kick-back from the cruise). We just walked away and got on the nearby river bus. Skytrain rail system is good for getting around.

I was surprised to like Bangkok but I did. We had come away from Chiang Mai and Phuket though (I loved Chiang Mai and will go back there again sometime).

I haven't been but my good friend has gone a couple of times for work over the past year. A couple of weeks at a time. LOVES Thailand. He said the people are awesome and it's really inexpensive. Unless I'm mistaken though I think Pattaya is sort of known for attracting sex tourists. Gotta' imagine that creates a different vibe. But I've got to guess the beaches are awesome. Enjoy.
