I Observe The Remembrance Day

Our family went down to the local Veterans Hall in our town today for the ceremony like every year. There were a lot fewer this year than last. I think that is kind of sad. Still it was a nice ceremony and I am glad we went.

When I was a little kid I would go to the ceremony at the cenotaph and I would see a bunch of old men. Some quite aged and leaning on canes. Then some standing quite erect with white hair. Then another group made up of men including my uncles. I asked Mom about them. She said the old men with the canes were Boer War vets. The erect white hairs were WWI vets and my uncles were WWII vets. Then there was one man who was a bit younger yet. He had served in Korea. A bit of history.
