I Observe The Remembrance Day

As a young lad I was forced to attend the freezing cold ceremony held every year at the local cenotaph for Armistice Day/Remembrance Day. I would stand shivering in the cold and wind and watch as the veterans would march in to the commands of my uncle the local war hero. In front was a large group of men about my uncles age then behind them some older gentlemen my grandpa's age. Then farther behind them were some older gentlemen most walking with canes bent with age. I asked Mom who these men were. Mom explained that the youngest men fought in WWII. The middle group fought in WWI and the older gents fought in the Boer War.

I will remember them.
