I haven't long finished reading Hunting Unicorns by Bella Pollen. I bought it for just £3 on Amazon UK. There was one copy on there for the ridiculous cost of £28. It's got such an intriguing title that I had to find out what it was about. It's a unusual novel written in alternating first person. The main characters are Rory Beven, the son of an Earl and Maggie and American journalist. Their lives are polar opposites with his full of eccentric aristocrats living in crumbling mansions, hers working for a hard hitting current affairs programme that takes her to the trenches of war torn countries. I loved the eccentricity of Rory's family despite the skeleton in their cupboard because I do believe that the sins of the father, or grandfather for that matter should not be passed on to the children. I didn't want to finish this book, it's one of those comforting reads that as you lose yourself in the pages you feel like you are simultaneously slipping into a big bubble bath.
