I Have Experienced Loss

If I know someone has lost a family member, I'm afraid I go straight in like a bull in a china shop in giving my sympathy and sharing my own loss, so my utmost apologies to those I have charged at in my time. But not everyone wants this because grief is a very private matter. Family is important to us all, it's the most important word there is and it's what life is really all about. My brother who died from kidney failure at the tender age of fifteen and I will always miss him, and my dear grandfather who taught me to make for myself a life to love and experience, but at the end of the day it's who we let into our hearts that truly count. No matter how long we have our loved ones with us, the level of heartbreak we experience is a small price to pay for everything they gave us while they were here. So cherish those dear to you.

I tend to do exactly the same. I think I slightly-too-quickly want people to realise that the things I'm saying might sound removed, but come from experience. Even though, like you say, it isn't always going to be the most welcome response.
