Good to know how she feels about me becoming a mechanic.

She basically shot down my goals, called me the derogatory term, and said it's nothing and, "you're just going to be struggling for the rest of your life." "You don't want to be doing that forever." She's literally the definition of a snob. Hell, my wife has a PHD and has 6 licensing and is a licensed MA. She works in management running 3 hospitals. But because she wasn't a real doctor, she acted like she didn't know shit. If that doesn't impress her, I know I never will as a blue collared worker. Shouldn't bother me but it does

Those that put you down like that are fearful that you will have a better life then they. It's not all about money, peace of mind is priceless.
@curiosi AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh mothers... don't you just love them.. always got an opinion and always ready to share it... I am sure I am the same.. but we mothers do have to remember that what we really want is the best for our child.. and sometimes the best means supporting and encouraging them in whatever they really want to do..

The good thing is.. while it will upset you... you have control of your own life.. do what you want and need to do... she will just have to learn to live with it.. and she might very well come round to your way of thinking if she can see you are happy and love what you are doing
