I Was Smacked At Primary School

I was a teacher who taught in primary schools, or more accurately prep schools for age she 8-13. A smacked bottom for a misbehaved child was a frequent occurrence.

At the Primary Schools I attended it was fairly frequent. I got my fair share of getting smacked across the bottom.

@Oldmanjimbo: Yes, I agree. The point is, a lot of schools had policies of only caning boys. Surely the same considerations must apply. I would say it's abusive either way.

I certainly believe both should be treated equally and benefit from discipline. "Strict" is not a well defined word so we possibly disagree on just how strict it should be.

@MarySomerville At 6 we got OTK hand spankings off teachers at school. By 7 or 8 the slipper was starting to be used and we usually got that bent over a desk or chair.

At 14, leaving the school without permission would have meant a caning. I might have got away with just a slippering off the teacher for just skipping lessons.

I got the slipper a few times in 6th form for leaving the school without permission at lunch time.
